There is never a shortage of things to do.

If you're someone who likes staying busy on vacation, you'll never run out of options.

Whether you want to relax by the pool, ride water slides, watch world-class entertainment, enjoy live music, explore different neighborhoods, or simply grab dessert and people-watch, there's always something happening.

I never found myself wondering what to do next.

The neighborhoods are one of my favorite features.

Instead of feeling overwhelming, the ship is divided into different neighborhoods, each with its own personality.

Some areas are lively and energetic, while others are peaceful and relaxing. I loved being able to move between completely different atmospheres depending on how I felt that day.

The AquaDome exceeded my expectations.

If I had to choose one area that completely impressed me, it would be the AquaDome.

The architecture alone is stunning, especially in the evening when everything lights up. Between the incredible ocean views and the entertainment offered there, it became one of my favorite places to spend time.

The food was better than I expected.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the included dining options.

If you enjoy taking vacation photos, you'll have no shortage of beautiful backdrops.

The Downsides

No vacation is perfect, and I think it's important to be honest about that.

It's a very large ship.

For many people, that's exactly why they book Icon.

However, if you prefer smaller ships with a slower pace, Icon may feel overwhelming.

You'll do more walking than you would on many other cruise ships simply because of its size.

Popular attractions can get busy.

Since this is one of the most popular cruise ships in the world, there are times when you'll notice crowds.

The pools, waterpark, elevators, and certain restaurants are busiest during peak hours.

My advice is to enjoy popular attractions early in the morning or later in the evening whenever possible.

Extras can add up.

While there's plenty included in your cruise fare, it's easy to spend more if you're not paying attention.

Specialty dining, drink packages, internet, spa treatments, arcade games, and shopping can increase your vacation cost quickly.

Planning your budget before you board helps eliminate surprises.

Was It Too Crowded?

This was one of my biggest concerns before sailing.

That energy is part of what makes it so special—but it's not everyone's vacation style.

Would I Sail Icon Again?

Absolutely.

Knowing what I know now, I'd simply plan my days a little differently by visiting popular attractions during less crowded times and budgeting ahead for optional extras.

Overall, I completely understand why this ship has received so much attention.

It's innovative, beautiful, and unlike anything I've experienced before.
